Bigger Bass Splash Review
Another addition to the Big Bass series |
---|
Reel Kingdom is known for its beloved Big Bass series and its countless spin-offs. Bigger Bass Splash is the follow-up to Big Bass Splash. It has a slightly bigger grid of 5 reels, 4 rows, and two additional paylines. Plus, a max win of 5,000x with an RTP of 96.50%. Fans of the series will enjoy returning to the world of Big Bass with crisper visuals and smoother animations – they also might be comforted to know not much else has changed. Bigger Bass Splash works with many of the same special features as Bigger Bass Splash: Free Spins with Wilds, money symbols, and five modifiers. These special features are only available during the Free Spins round, but they work together to create an engaging Free Spins experience. |
Bigger Bass Splash symbols and payouts
There are 10 paying symbols on Bigger Bass Splash. Half of these are the traditional card symbols 10, J, Q, K, and A. The other half are fishing-themed symbols: different fish, a drinks cooler, a hook, a fishing rod, and a boat.
The 10, J, and Q have the same payout values. At minimum bet, the three lowest-paying symbols award $0.02 for three symbols and $0.50 for five. The K and A award is $1 for five. The boat is the highest-paying symbol, awarding $0.05 for two symbols, $0.50 for three, and $20 for five symbols.
The fish symbols can have a money overlay, showing a cash bonus. These are active during the free spins round and are collected by the Wild. If you land five of the fish symbols during the base game, however, you are awarded the total money value.
The game has 12 paylines and symbols that need to land starting from the leftmost reel for a win.
Bigger Bass Splash special features
Reel Kingdom slots often include clever special features, and the Big Bass series, in particular, is known for its free spins bonus game. Here’s what’s going on in Bigger Bass Splash.
Free spins
The free spins feature is triggered when three or more of the Scatter fish symbols land anywhere on the reels.
- 3 Scatters award 10 free spins
- 4 Scatters award 15 free spins
- 5 Scatters award 20 free spins
Free spins are played on the same reels as the base game, with the help of Wilds and modifiers.
Money symbol
The fish-paying symbols can have money symbol overlays. On every spin, the fish take on different money values, which can be won during the free spins round. The possible values are 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 200x, 500x, 1,666x, 2,500x, or 5,000x the total bet.
Wild
Like in many of the Big Bass games, the Wild symbol only makes an appearance during the free spins round. The bearded fisherman, wearing a cowboy hat and a lei over his blue shirt, is your Wild. This symbol can appear on any reel during the free spins round and substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter.
Apart from substituting for other symbols, the Wild also collects all the cash values from the money overlays on the fish symbols. The total is added to the total win from the Free Spins.
The active Wild symbols are also collected until the end of the free spins round. During free spins, there’s a Wild tracker that sits above the grid. Every fourth Wild symbol that’s collected retriggers the free spins feature, awarding 10 more free spins along with a multiplier for the Money overlays that are collected.
On the second level, the Wild multiplier is 2x. This increases to 3x for the third level and to 10x for the fourth level. If the Wild tracker reaches the fourth level, the feature won’t be retriggered again once the additional free spins have played out.
Free Spins modifiers
Before the free spins round starts, up to five modifiers are randomly selected. A lasso tries to catch the different modifiers stuck in the sand. If it’s successful, that modifier is awarded to the free spins round. If the lasso catches the boot in the middle, no further modifiers are awarded.
The different modifiers are:
- More fish: a higher number of fish symbols will be present on the reels
- More fisherman: more Wilds will be present on the reels
- More hooks, dynamites, and wipeouts: there will be a higher chance to hit dynamite, hooks, or the wipeout spin feature during the free spins round
- Start from Level 2: the free spins round starts from Level 2 on the Wild tracker
- Two additional spins: the free spins round starts with two more free spins and two more will be added to every retrigger
The wipeout feature is triggered randomly when there are fisherman symbols on the screen but not fish at the end of a free spin. The Wipeout animation will appear over the reels, and all the symbols, except for the fishermen, will be changed into different symbols.
At other points in the free spins round, if there are fish symbols on the screen but no fishermen, a hook will appear, and a random reel will be pulled up to bring a fisherman symbol onto the grid.
The dynamite spin feature is triggered when there are fishermen symbols on screen but no fish. The money overlay symbols can appear randomly, giving the fisherman Wild something to collect.
Respin
If two scatters land on the reels in the base game, there’s the chance for a third scatter to be brought onto the reels, thanks to two random features.
One of the features is similar to the hook from the free spins. A hook can appear and pull up a random reel to reveal the third scatter needed to trigger free spins.
Alternatively, if the two scatters on the reels can move down one position without leaving the grid, a respin is triggered where the reels that hold the two scatters move one position down, and the other reels respin to reveal the third scatter.
Bonus buy
There are two bonus buy options on Bigger Bass Splash, both of which trigger the free spins round. The first option costs 100x the current bet and triggers the regular free spins feature. The second option costs 350x the current bet for the super free spins feature. This includes all five modifiers.
Classic special features |
---|
Not much has changed in terms of special features since Big Bass Splash. That’s not a bad thing as these are good and engaging special features, particularly the modifiers. It would have been nice to see something new in the series, however, as there is a lot of repetition. |
Bigger Bass Splash graphics & sound
Bigger Bass Splash has the classic Big Bass visuals that players know and love, but they’re more modern and better quality than the previous slot games. The grid sits under the sea, surrounded by gently animated seaweed, bubbles, and the occasional fish. It’s a colourful slot, and the art style of the symbols hasn’t changed since the original slot, keeping that retro feeling.
There are some minor animations, such as the fish symbols swimming when forming part of a win or the card symbols making ripples.
When it comes to music, there’s a cheerful background track that works with the fishing theme, along with the classic Big Bass game sounds that tie it all together.
Graphics | Quirky fishing-themed 2D graphics |

Music | Cheerful classic Big Bass fishing soundtrack |
Special features | Wilds, Free Spins, Scatters, Bonus Buy, Respins, Money symbols, Free Spins modifiers, Dynamite feature, Wipeout feature, Hooks |
Bigger Bass Splash mobile experience
Reel Kingdom’s slots are all developed with HTML5 technology, meaning they’ll transition well between screens of all sizes. The slot runs perfectly in portrait mode, with the space divided equally between the grid and the buttons. Landscape mode works great, too, making the grid as wide as possible.
Cleaner visuals, smooth mobile experience |
---|
Although Reel Kingdom has kept the same design style for Bigger Bass Splash, there is an improvement in the quality of the visuals. The animations are also much smoother. All this transitions well when switching to a smaller screen, so we’re glad to see there isn’t any compromise on quality. |
Bigger Bass Splash pros & cons
Bigger Bass Splash does have quite a lot going for it. It has a slightly above-average RTP of 96.50% and a max win of 5,000x the total bet. That’s double the maximum win of the original Big Bass Bonanza. The slot also has dynamic free spins that are loaded with potential modifiers to help maximize your wins, as well as the wild progressive tracker, which awards multipliers at each level.
Of course, there are a couple of cons to this slot. For starters, it does have high volatility, meaning it won’t pay out frequently. When it does, those wins might be a bit bigger, but there won’t be so many of them. The slot also has a low hit rate as it only has 12 paylines. Since the payouts are quite average when the bet is set quite low, the combination of high volatility and low hit rate makes it a game that’s better suited for more experienced players.
Bigger Bass Splash is also very similar to all the previous Big Bass slots, including the special features. Each version in this series repeats itself.
Advantages | Disadvantages |
---|---|
✓ 96.50% RTP | ✗ High volatility |
✓ 5,000x max win | ✗ 12 paylines |
✓ Multiple Free Spins modifiers | ✗ Similar to previous Big Bass slots |
✓ Wild progressive tracker in Free Spins | ✗ Not suitable for low-risk players |
✓ Respins help trigger Free Spins | |
✓ Bonus buy feature |
An overall decent gaming experience |
---|
Bigger Bass Splash has gained two extra paylines and an extra row since Big Bass Splash. Despite this, it’s still a high-volatility slot with a low hit rate, so there won’t be frequent small wins in this game. With a max bet of $300 on top of that, this is one for high-rollers. |

Solutions if you encounter issues with Bigger Bass Splash
In case you find yourself in a situation and need some guidance, here are some quick tips that can help you.
- All pays and plays are deemed void in case of malfunction.
- Always contact your casino’s customer support team for additional help.
- Check your game history if you lose connection. The slot may finish your spin for you, and you’ll find the records in your history.
Not the biggest splash
If you enjoy the Big Bass slot experience, then you’ll likely enjoy Bigger Bass Splash. It has all the classic Big Bass features, with a higher max win of 5,000x your stake. The special features haven’t changed much since Big Bass Splash, but that doesn’t mean the slot doesn’t provide an enjoyable gaming experience. The five modifiers add an extra layer to the free spins round while retaining the innovative wild tracker. The colourful visuals are also better quality than the previous slots, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere.
However, we feel this is a game better suited to high-risk players. The high volatility and low hit rate combination means there won’t be enough frequent wins to keep your bankroll steady so that low-risk players could feel uncomfortable. The slot also has a max bet of $300, providing a lot of range for a high-roller. We’d love to see Reel Kingdom do something fresh with the popular Big Bass series, as while there’s familiarity in the consistency, there’s room for something new.
