Released near the beginning of 2022, Push Gaming’s Big Bamboo is a well-designed game with a calming look and feel that nonetheless provides an exciting experience. Before we get into the game’s many special features and where to play it in Canada, our Big Bamboo review will cover the slot’s basics: the main symbols, paylines, payouts, maximum win amount, and RTP/volatility.
Game symbols
Big Bamboo has 8 main symbols: a Panda, Hog, Monkey, Bird, Pink Club, Purple Heart, Green Spade, and Blue Diamond. There are also several special symbols, but we will look at them further below in our Big Bamboo review.
Number of paylines
The game board in Big Bamboo features 6 reels with 5 rows and includes 50 paylines. The board pays when symbols match a payline left to right on 3 or more consecutive reels, although the Panda (and, as we’ll see below, the wild symbol) pays on the first 2 reels.
Payouts
The symbols in Big Bamboo payout, from highest to lowest value, in this order: the Panda, Hog, Monkey, Bird, and, finally, all 4 of the playing card symbols payout the same amount.
Min/max bet
Big Bamboo’s minimum bet is $0.10, and its maximum bet is $100. The range is decent, even if it could have a higher maximum to attract higher rollers.
Maximum Win
Push Gaming has given Big Bamboo a theoretical maximum payout of 50,000x the bet. With the max bet of $100, players can win a maximum amount of $5,000,000 playing Big Bamboo, which is a sizeable amount.

The wild symbol in Big Bamboo can substitute for any of the game’s main symbols to complete combinations. Wilds can appear in both the base game and the free spins round. Wild symbols can also hit paylines, including on only the first 2 reels, as we alluded to above.
Mystery Bamboo symbol
The Mystery Bamboo symbol is a reveal symbol that appears in both the base game and free spins round. After the reels have stopped spinning, the Mystery Bamboo symbol will turn into one of the main symbols, a wild symbol, or a Golden Bamboo symbol.
Golden Bamboo symbol
The Golden Bamboo symbol only appears if it is revealed by a Mystery Bamboo symbol. When a Golden Bamboo is revealed, it activates the Golden Bamboo feature. Each of the Golden Bamboo symbols will then spin through a selection of rewards:

Instant Prize symbol
Instant Prize symbols can land during the Golden Bamboo feature only. The symbols consist of multipliers between 1x and 5,000x the bet.
Multiplier symbol
Only appearing during the Golden Bamboo feature, multiplier symbols multiply (2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x) the value of all Instant Prize and Collector symbols, then are removed from the reel. The empty position is subsequently re-spun through the prizes again.
Collector symbol
Also appearing only during the Golden Bamboo feature, the Collector symbol collects the surrounding Instant Prizes, removes them from the reels, and remains on the board throughout the feature. The empty positions previously held by the Instant Prizes are then re-spun through the prizes.
Scatter symbol
The scatter symbol in Big Bamboo appears on reels 2, 3, and 4. When 2 scatter symbols showing the word “bonus” appear on reels 2 and 3, the third scatter that may appear on reel 4 is called a “gamble scatter.” Rather than show the word “bonus,” the gamble scatter will spin through the possible free spins prizes awarded for the free spins round.
Scatter symbols can land at any point of play: during the base game, free spins round, or Golden Bamboo feature. During the Golden Bamboo feature, the scatter can appear in any position on any reel.
Gamble feature
When the free spins round is activated, players are first given a choice to gamble their free spins round for a round with more free spins. The gamble may cost the player their entire free spins round, though.
Free spins round
When the free spins round is activated in Big Bamboo, the scatter symbols are collected on a meter to the right of the game’s board. Every fourth scatter is converted into additional free spins: 4 free spins for the first conversion, 3 for the second and third conversions, and 2 for the fourth conversion.
The converted symbols also award multiplier values that are applied to the winning amounts from the Golden Bamboo feature, with the first symbol adding a 2x multiplier, the second a 3x multiplier, the third a 5x multiplier, and the fourth a 10x multiplier.
